In a pivotal step with far-reaching implications for the region’s digital transformation trajectories, GITEX — the world’s largest technology and AI network—officially entered Southeast Europe on Monday.
Organized by the Dubai World Trade Centre and Kaon International , and in strategic partnership with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry , GITEX AI Serbia will take place at the Belgrade Fairgrounds on May 26-27 , 2027. As the official technology event of Expo 2027 Belgrade , GITEX AI Serbia aims to promote Southeast Europe as a powerful meeting point connecting emerging regional digital economies to the frontiers of global innovation, technology, and investment.

The ICT sector contributes 10% of GDP and achieved record exports of $ 4.31 billion in 2024 — a nearly tenfold increase in 12 years—currently employing some 110,000 professionals, with this number expected to reach 140,000 by 2027 , when the Ministry of Information and Communications targets exports of $ 11.7 billion (€10 billion) .
Additionally, last year, the Serbian government announced an $ 82.1 million (€70 million) investment plan for AI development through 2027 —aligned with its vision to promote leadership in AI , agtech , sustainability , and the circular economy . This followed the establishment of Southeast Europe’s first AI research institute , cementing Serbia’s position as a regional benchmark for innovation and R&D—a position that GITEX AI Serbia will further strengthen and advance both the country and the region as a whole.
