Background:

Indonesia recorded a major investment milestone after securing commitments worth US$28.9 billion (approximately Rp450 trillion) during its participation in World Expo 2025 Osaka, government officials confirmed.

During the Expo, Indonesia carried out more than 104 business activities, including Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), Letters of Intent (LoIs), and cooperation agreements, especially in the tourism and development sectors.

Minister of National Development Planning and Head of Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy, said the success of the pavilion would leave a lasting impact beyond the event itself.

“Expo Osaka was not just about achieving results during the exhibition, but about demonstrating Indonesia’s capacity to deliver meaningful outcomes when supported by strong commitment and collaboration,” he said in a statement on Sunday, December 21, 2025.

The Indonesia Pavilion was built around the theme “Thriving in Harmony: Nature, Culture, Future,” showcasing the country’s natural resources, cultural heritage, and plans for sustainable development.

Officials said the success was made possible through collaboration between central and regional governments, private businesses, creative communities, and Indonesian partners in Japan.

To mark the Expo’s conclusion, the Ministry of National Development Planning released a book titled Thriving in Harmony: Nature, Culture, Future, which documents Indonesia’s strategy and participation in the event.

Deputy Minister Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard said the book highlights the planning behind Indonesia’s presence in Osaka and shows the country’s contribution to the Expo theme, “Creating Future Society for Our Lives.”

He added that the experience and partnerships formed during the Expo are expected to support Indonesia’s long-term development goals, including the realization of the country’s Golden Vision 2045.

Through its participation in World Expo 2025 Osaka, Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening global partnerships and positioning itself as a competitive and sustainable investment destination.
