Background :

SpaceXAI has launched Grok 4.5, its latest artificial intelligence model and the company’s first major release since going public. The company said the new model is designed to handle a wide range of tasks, including coding, app development, office work, research, writing and other knowledge-based activities while offering better cost efficiency.

According to SpaceXAI, Grok 4.5 delivers twice the token efficiency of competing AI models, which could help lower operating costs for users. The company said the improvement addresses growing concerns among businesses over the rising cost of using advanced AI models.

SpaceXAI also released benchmark results that showed Grok 4.5 performs competitively against leading AI models, although it does not top every benchmark. One comparison showed the model scoring 62% on the DeepSWE benchmark, placing it behind Fable Max and GPT 5.5 XHigh but ahead of Opus 4.8 Max.

Founder Elon Musk said customer feedback from the beta testing programme had been positive and described Grok 4.5 as an “Opus-class” model that offers faster performance, higher token efficiency and lower operating costs. He added that the company’s internal assessment found the model comparable to Opus 4.7 while delivering quicker responses.

SpaceXAI has priced Grok 4.5 at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens. The company said this makes the model more affordable than several competing premium AI systems.

The launch comes during a busy period for the AI industry, with several technology companies preparing to introduce more advanced models as competition in generative AI continues to intensify.
