Prime Highlights:

  • Anthropic launched Claude Opus 4.6, focusing on higher-quality coding, planning, and long-form professional tasks.
  • The release reflects a shift toward trusted “vibe working,” where AI supports sustained enterprise workflows.

Key Facts:

  • Claude Opus 4.6 ranks first on the Finance Agent benchmark and improves performance in coding, research, and financial analysis.
  • Enterprise clients generate about 80% of Anthropic’s revenue, and the model is available via Claude.ai, API, and major cloud platforms.

Background:

Anthropic on Thursday launched Claude Opus 4.6, its latest artificial intelligence model, as the company pushes deeper into professional and enterprise-focused work. The new model improves coding accuracy, handles long tasks more reliably, and produces higher-quality professional outputs, the company said.

Claude Opus 4.6 marks Anthropic’s first major model release this year, following several launches late last year. The company said the new version builds on earlier strengths while making clear gains in planning, code review, debugging, and working within large and complex codebases.

The launch highlights a broader shift in how AI tools are used at work. Scott White, Anthropic’s head of product for enterprise, said the industry is moving beyond “vibe coding” toward what he described as “vibe working,” where users can trust AI systems with meaningful and sustained tasks rather than quick answers.

Anthropic’s AI tools have gained strong traction among businesses. Enterprise customers now account for roughly 80% of the company’s revenue, according to CEO Dario Amodei. Products like Claude Code and Claude Cowork worry software investors because AI productivity tools are starting to compete with traditional software.

The impact is already visible in markets. The WisdomTree Cloud Computing Fund has fallen more than 20% so far this year, reflecting investor worries about disruption in the software sector.

Anthropic said Claude Opus 4.6 also performs better in research, document analysis, and financial tasks. The model now ranks first on the Finance Agent benchmark, which tests AI performance on core financial analyst work.

Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI researchers, Anthropic develops the Claude family of models. Claude Opus 4.6 is available through the Claude.ai chatbot, the company’s API, and all major cloud platforms.
