Background

Creative technology company Aer Studios has secured a residency at The Sheds, a major digital innovation hub in Bristol, strengthening its partnership with the city’s growing creative technology ecosystem.

Aer Studios, headquartered in Box near Bath, will operate from The Sheds in Bristol’s Temple Quarter. The hub, backed by the University of Bristol, brings together businesses, researchers and technology experts to develop advanced digital experiences and creative solutions.

The Sheds offers access to immersive technology, augmented reality tools, advanced production systems and a Dolby Atmos-equipped cinema. In addition to assisting new businesses in scaling creative ventures, the institution seeks to foster industry-academia partnerships.

Aer Studios already has an established presence within the ecosystem through workshops and innovation programmes hosted at The Sheds’ Neutral Labs. The company also played a role in inspiring the region’s first Creative, Tech and Culture festival through collaboration with industry leaders.

The residency further strengthens Aer Studios’ partnership with MyWorld, a university-led creative technology programme based at The Sheds. In the previous year, Aer Studios partnered with MyWorld and Bristol-based technology start-up Condense to launch Pocket Talks, an augmented reality concept allowing audiences to experience live keynote presentations through smartphones.

The company stated that the new residency would provide direct access to advanced facilities, collaborative workspaces and innovation programmes while supporting stronger engagement with partners and clients in the UK and overseas.

The move comes during a period of expansion for Aer Studios following the appointments of Scott Ewings as chief strategy officer and James Hobbs as chief technology officer.

Chief Executive Officer Tom Harber stated that the residency reflects the company’s ambition to help position Bristol and the wider region as a global centre for creative technology and digital innovation.
