Key Background:
Microsoft also expanded its AI features for Copilot Plus PCs, which now support Intel and AMD PCs. One of the features of this release is Live Captions, which translates real-time audio into English subtitles. First tested on Intel and AMD processors in December, the feature is now offered through the new Windows 11 update, supporting accessibility and multilingual interaction.
Cocreator in Paint, another significant new addition, is AI-powered feature that can create images based on text descriptions and user drawings. Earlier confined to Qualcomm-based hardware, the feature is now coming to more hardware. The upgrade also makes Windows 11 Photos better with an AI-powered image editor and creator, which helps users to crop and edit photos more efficiently.
Microsoft still has Recall under wraps, an artificial intelligence-enabled feature that saves user activity to a screenshot to enable searching and recovering previous interaction. Though Microsoft tested it with Intel and AMD chips, publicly the company still has not set a date. Voice Access, another PC voice control accessibility feature, has meanwhile also been improved on Qualcomm hardware with an upcoming rollout planned on Intel and AMD devices as well.
This move is proof of Microsoft’s continued push on AI-powered innovation on a string of hardware platforms. With the roll-out of these features on devices outside Qualcomm, Microsoft is effectively enabling a wider, richer experience on its ecosystem.
