Background-

Revolut Business, the global fintech serving more than 850,000 business customers, has published new data showing a sharp rise in corporate spending on artificial intelligence tools, with total monthly investment among its global customers climbing 406 percent year on year, well ahead of the 259 percent growth seen in consumer AI spending.

The average business user now spends USD 416 a month on AI tools, nearly ten times the USD 42 retail average, pointing to deeper integration of AI into daily company workflows.

Businesses are also concentrating spending around providers that have already proven useful, with retention rates staying high across major platforms led by OpenAI at 89.9 percent, Anthropic at 89.7 percent and Cursor at 85.4 percent.

James Gibson, Head of Revolut Business, said the company has never seen a spending category scale as quickly as AI, with no signs of the momentum slowing, and noted that Revolut Business continues adapting its platform to support its growing base of technologically advanced companies.

Micro-businesses represent the largest share of AI-using firms at 77.9 percent, while spending rises sharply with company size, from USD 236 monthly among firms with 1 to 10 employees to USD 2,031 among mid-market companies with 51 to 200 employees. In Romania, mid-market AI spending grew 440 percent year on year, the fastest pace recorded, while enterprise spending rose 255 percent.

Consulting, IT and business services account for 66.4 percent of all business AI spending despite representing just 25.8 percent of active businesses on the platform, a trend Revolut links to an emerging headcount multiplier effect among smaller teams.
