Conference Scientific Statement and Recommendations

CARE Nursing

The CARE Medical 1st International Nursing Conference – Riyadh, 3–4 September 2025, held under the theme “The Economic and Clinical Impact of Nursing at the Heart of Care”, was convened under the patronage of the Ministry of Health. The event gathered national and international leaders, academics, and nursing professionals to discuss the pivotal role of nursing in shaping the future of healthcare. The conference reaffirmed that nursing is not only the heart of patient care but also a central driver of sustainability and economic value across health systems.

Throughout the sessions, speakers emphasized that nursing is an economic force capable of improving outcomes, reducing costs, and strengthening workforce retention. Education was highlighted as a core infrastructure for healthcare transformation, where investment in faculty development and essential soft skills was shown to save lives and reduce medical errors. Leadership and governance were underscored as areas where nurses must be fully integrated, participating in strategic decision-making and health policy formulation to ensure holistic progress.

Digital transformation also emerged as a defining theme. Artificial intelligence, with its potential to improve documentation, optimize workflows, and enhance patient safety, was presented as a critical tool for empowering nurses and enabling smarter care delivery. Equally, the well-being and resilience of the nursing workforce were acknowledged as essential. A thriving, supported, and resilient nursing community ensures not only better staff retention but also safer, higher-quality care for patients.

At the conclusion of the conference, participants collectively called for clear actions. These include integrating nurses into national health policy and strategic councils, treating nursing education as national infrastructure, embedding AI and leadership skills into curricula, and expanding value-based nursing practices that link quality outcomes with financial sustainability. Furthermore, nurse well-being must be elevated to a strategic priority, directly tied to patient safety indicators. International collaboration was also highlighted as vital, with Saudi Arabia positioned to become a regional hub for nursing-led innovation and healthcare transformation.

This statement and its recommendations reflect the shared vision that nursing is both the heart of care and the engine of sustainable healthcare. By empowering nurses through education, leadership, innovation, and well-being, healthcare systems can deliver lasting value, aligning with the ambitions of Vision 2030 to ensure a healthier future for the Kingdom and beyond.
